Yesterday I spoke at the Provinciale Hogeschool Limburg for 160 Visual Communication students.

I talked about how interactive design evolved from 1993 (the start of the commercial internet) up 'till now, illustrated with projects I worked on and projects of my company.

For a week I have been digging into my archives and backups 'till 2 o'clock at night to get this speech together. Two things that struck me: it is really incredible that 1993, which is only 13 years ago was the digital prehistory: no sound cards or CD-roms, no cable or DSL modems, no cell phones, no DVD, no handhelds, no iPods, only color television. And up 'till 2000 or 2001 we spend more time overcoming technical issues than developing or designing.

Hi Johan,

Just to let you know that I've enjoyed the evening. The reactions of the other teachers and the students were very positive.

The presentation itself was a very cool application on itself!
It was very interesting (and funny) stuff, certainly for us teachers and students 'Interactive Design'.
It's good to see that a Belgian company, with such a long heritage in the multimedia, is still doing more than fine!

Thanks!

Best regards,

Piet
P.S. Don't hesitate to drop by when you're in the neighborhood.
